Managing business resources including people, information, knowledge and technology, multi-disciplinary approach to managing resources within global environment.
The module is designed to give students an insight into the management of resources within international business. The students will be assessed informally throughout the module using case-study materials, question and answer sessions and formally through the courseworks.
2. Integrated Marketing Communications*
Taught element
Marketing communications process, knowledge of IMC, need of integration, methods for optimum benefit, creative process, integrated marketing communications campaign.
The module looks in depth at the range of marketing communications tools and the crucial need for integration, equipping students to design an IMC campaign for the succesful launch of a new product of their choice. The presentation will test the student's ability to apply relevant marketing communications theory to the design and execution of a practical campaign, and the student's presentation skills.
3. Managing Human Resource Strategy*
Taught Element
Recruitment and selection methods with particular focus on psychological tests and assessment centres, business case for competency and diversity based employee resourcing policy and practice, impact of local and global labour markets on resourcing strategy in contemporary organisations, strategic integration of employee resourcing policy and practice with other areas of HRM.
4. Business Ethics*
Taught Element
Philosophical underpinnings of ethical reasoning, different ethical perspectives of a number of theorists, cultural, social, political, and personal dimensions of ethics within a business environment, importance of the ethical dimensions in the management of business.
5. Dissertation
Supervised project of 20,000 words
Preparation of a dissertation that applies managerial concepts and research techniques to a significant organisational issue or problem.
A 20,000 word dissertation that applies managerial concepts and research techniques to critically investigate an organisational issue or problem. The expectation is that for this in-depth advanced study students will be capable of operating as independent critical thinkers, although appropriate developmental support will be provided through individual contact with a designated supervisor.
