Master of Business Administration: Quick FactsThe ECBM offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) for holders of a Betriebswirt and/ or suitable work experience. The two-year Master of Business Administration, taught in London and Germany via blended learning, leads to an internationally recognised and European-wide accredited MBA degree.
Start:
The MBA starts twice per year:
- Autumn (September/ October)
- Spring (February/ March)
Locations: The MBA is not only taught in London but also at locations in Germany:
Phase 1:
- Autumn start, option I: Stuttgart, Aachen, London
- Autumn start, option II: Aachen, London
- Spring start: Stuttgart, Aachen, London
Phase 2:
- Stuttgart, Aachen, London
Duration: Depending on when the participants join the MBA programme, the course can be achieved within a period of 18-24 months.
- Autumn start: 24 months
- Spring start: 18 months - ‘fast-track’
The only difference in those course starts is the time period. Content, level, assignments and delivery of the course are exactly the same. ( MBA structure)
Structure / Delivery:
The Master of Business Administration is a 2 phase programme. The attendance of both phase 1 and phase 2 are compulsory to achieve the MBA title.
- Phase 1:
- 1 international week in London
- 3-4 weekend-seminars in either London or Germany
- Students are required to devote a considerable amount of free time to assignments and course-related reading
- Taught and delivered modules will be supported electronically via a student platform and forum
- In order to do research on a level that fulfils the requirements of a Master of Business Administration, course participants will receive access to EBSCO, an Electronic Journal Service
- Phase 2:
- 1 international week in London
- 5 weekend-seminars of which 1 in London and 4 in different locations in Germany
- Students are required to devote a considerable amount of free time to assignments and course-related reading
- Electronic library resources from the ECBM partner university will be made available to students
- Taught and delivered modules will be supported electronically via ‘Blackboard’, the student platform from ECBM partner university
- It is possible to gain access to the online library of Liverpool John Moores University
Qualifications and Accreditation:
- After completion of phase 1: Diploma in Management Studies (DMS)
For phase 1, course participants are registered with National Examination Board Edexcel, by which the certificate is issued. The qualification of the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) therefore is nationally accredited within the United Kingdom.
- After completion of phase 2: Master of Business Administration, MBA
For the final phase of the Master of Business Administration, course participants are registered with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). The ECBM has a franchise relationship with LJMU. Teaching, organisation and administration of the course is carried out by ECBM-staff.
As the qualification is issued by an acknowledged state-certified University the MBA is internationally recognised and allows successful candidates to carry the MBA title Europe-wide.
MBA Modules
The attendance of all modules, offered by the ECBM London, is compulsory. The Management Report in phase 1 (10,000 words) and the Dissertation in phase 2 (20,000 words) requires a specialisation on one specific topic. Participants are required to choose their own case study.

Credit volume:
Overall, the 2 year MBA course equates to 180 credit points, which is level 7 on the Higher Education Qualification Framework in the UK. This equates to 90 points in the European Credit Transfer System ECTS

You may apply to our programme if you have at least three years of higher education (Bachelor), are a Betriebswirt holder or if you have relevant managerial work experience. Very good English skills are required and may be tested in some cases.
